Grand Canyon National Park mug

This vintage two-tone Arizona mug offers detailed artwork of Grand Canyon National Park. Rotated views on the mug also include the Kaibab Trail and Suspension Bridge.

( After a little over a year this will be the final post of this blog. Thanks to all who followed the posts and hopefully enjoyed the art of the coffee mug.- Bob)

Virginia Hiway, Inc mug

Keep on truckin'. A red, white and blue color scheme and a slightly futuristic truck icon gives this Virginia Hiway Inc mug an extra jolt.

Grundy County Speedway mug

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!! Rev your engines, and pour yourself some hi-octane java in this Grundy County Speedway mug.

Wine mug

Not everyones favorite beverage is coffee. This wine themed mug lets you enjoy your morning joe, while thinking about that complex cabernet you had the night before.

Working with a new camera now (one broke, one borrowed) so hopefully the consistency of the images will be a little better.

Overnite Transportation mug

Nothing to distract on this mug. A simple, clean design and a few stars in the sky say it all for this shipping company.

Cub Scout mug

Fog coming off the distant mountains, a babbling brook nearby, and steam rising from a Cub Scout mug full of freshly perked coffee straight from the campfire completes this picturesque scene.

Hawaii Flower mug

Aloha again! Another great souvenir mug from Hawaii featuring beautiful artwork and bold colors.

Sunshine Convenience Store Division mug

The chubby baker logo and the yellow and red color motif makes this Sunshine Convenience ( I always misspell this!) Store Division mug shine!

Klein Tools mug

The earthenware brown and embossed logo make this mug from Klein tools an essential part of any do-it-yourself job around the house.

Waterman Steamships mug

Ahoy coffee lovers!! You can almost smell the sea air as you take your first sip of morning coffee from this freight carriers mug. Just be on the look out for pirates.

Pep Boys mug

A Pep Boys coffee mug for people on the go. This plastic mug came with an adhesive backed cup holder that the mugs pedestal slid into. Sticking it on your shiny dashboard might of seemed like a good idea, but probably didn't do much for the car's value.

Topp Air-Conditioning mug

A mug for a sweltering summer. The reverse side of Topp's mug let's you know they also provided portable heating solutions in case you want to plan ahead for the winter.

1776 mug

In honor of the 4th of July, this weeks mug features a revolutionary theme. The patriotic minuteman on the side gives an approving stare as you pour yourself a mug of Stars and Stripes blend.  Happy 4th!

CCX Trucking mug

Keep on truckin'. CCX kept there truckers fueled up with java and 'Miles Ahead" with this company mug. The angled handle and racing stripes make this mug stand out.

Florida Map mug

It's very possible that the person who sipped their morning coffee out of this souvenir mug also spent some time imagining plans for a return trip to Florida's pristine beaches.  With BP's huge oil slick threatening everything along the Gulf Coast many beach vacation plans have no doubt been put on hold.

Easy Chef mug

I dusted off this mug from grill manufacturer, Easy Chef  to celebrate the fact that summer, and backyard cookouts, are right around the corner.

Fortune Cookie Chinese Restaurant mug

This mug from The Fortune Cookie is no doubt lucky, but if you're a chinese restaurant do you really want to name your place after the mass-produced, tasteless, plastic wrapped snack that you give away after a meal?

GE mug

This GE mug, with a green rather than customary blue logo, was probably used to promote the company's "greener" corporate image. The elegant and timeless GE logo stands out among the many soulless and generic logos that are used today.
Thanks Nancy.

Denver mug

'D' is definitely for Denver. A towering D dominates the city skyline of this Denver souvenir mug.

Times Square Celebration mug

A mug from 2000 for the "Global Celebration at The Crossroads of the World" with a bold and colorful graphic that nicely captures the energy of Times Square.

Astrology mug

A mug straight out of the 1970's- you could start every morning as if it were the 'dawning of Age of Aquarius' with coffee served in this cool astrology themed mug.

Cinco de Mayo mug

In honor of Cinco de Mayo I chose a Mexican themed mug this week. This is one I picked up on a visit to Los Angeles. Years ago I was lucky enough to be given a mini- tour of L.A. by author, graphic artist and California connoisseur - Jim Heimann. One of the places we stopped was La Luz de Jesus, where I saw this gem on the shelves. When tilted the Mayan head rocks approvingly up and down.

Azim Grotto mug

A commemorative coffee mug from the 1988 Azim Grotto annual convention. Headgear (preferably fezes) was required at this 'mystic' Atlantic City meeting.

Maine Fish market mug

The Maine Fish Market mug is printed with all the info you'll need to find it. Including the fact that it's located in Connecticut.

Martinsville Concrete Products mug

Ok, so the guys at Martinsville Concrete Products don't go for a lot of frill in their graphic design- hence this straight forward plum-bob and trowel mug art, but "Block Build Better" ? Maybe a little too straight forward.

IBM mug

This is one of my favorite mugs.  The Eye, Bee, M rebus logo was designed by the legendary Paul Rand and used for promotion for an in- house IBM conference in 1991.

March 28, 2010

Las Vegas mug

The original owners of this Vegas mug may not have broken the bank at the casinos, but they did bring home this ceramic souvenir as a reminder of the fun times and free drinks had at the craps tables.

March 21, 2010

PASS mug

A nice mug from the Professional Airways Systems Specialists 1982 convention with a "you're in good hands" themed logo. I have to wonder if there is such a thing as the Amateur  Airways Systems Specialist convention?

4-H mug

A cup of coffee with milk and a dash of luck. In honor of St Patrick's Day comes a mug for the 4-H organization featuring their classic 4 leaf  clover logo design. You can almost smell the fresh cut hay and county fair livestock stalls.

Myrtle Beach mug

Feel the heat coming off of the hot sand, or is it the coffee you just poured, of this Myrtle Beach souvenir mug. Like most beach mugs it features the requisite sunset and palm tree silhouettes.

Goshen Scout Camps mug

A nice mug from 1986 celebrating a 20 year camp anniversary. The deer on the edge of this logo reminds me of that friend everyone has that manages to squeeze into every photo. Maybe its the stoic profile and it's fixed gaze across the mug- as if hoping no one has noticed.  Maybe I've just had too much caffeine this morning.

February 21, 2010

Marshall Fields mug

"Chicago, Chicago, that toddling town..." This mug comes from Chicago's legendary Marshall Fields Department store (now a Macy's).  Perhaps once sold as a souvenir, it features the M.F. logo below a skyline of the Windy City which wraps around the mug.

February 14, 2010

ChemTreat Inc mug

Cup of ChemTreat anyone? Not a bad looking mug, but definitely not the most appealing thing to read as you're taking that first sip of coffee in the morning. Guessing from the water drop art that their chemicals have something to do with water purification.

Hawaii mug 3

"Book-em Danno, then lets grab a cup of java." After yet another winter storm, this mug seemed appropriate for this week.  Not sure what's going on with the pink/yellow ocean gradation on this mug, but it still rates a Hawaii 10- O in my opinion.

American Metal Fabrications mug

A nice no-nonsense coffee mug from American Metal Fabrications Inc.  A shout out to A.M.F. for going with a bold stylized logo design (which actually isn't too bad) instead of the more expected stars and stripes motif.

January 24, 2010

HRH Insurance mug

A straight forward, no nonsense mug with a slightly industrial edge from HRH Insurance. The blocky 3 dimensional HRH type gives this mug an extra caffeinated boost.

January 17, 2010

Wang mug

Perhaps the victim of too many computer geek jokes, Wang Computer went bust in the 90's. This promo mug featuring generic artwork and a reference to the 80's movie Back to the Future is a momento of technology's past.

SNR mug

Don't let the slightly off center logo fool you, when it comes to ball-bearings SNR is "Aiming for excellence." Coffee mugs-- I'm guessing not so much. The parade of various ball-bearing casings wrapping around the bottom adds a nice detail.

Winter mug

Although this oversized coffee cup has a ski motif you don't have to be sitting in a rustic ski lodge to enjoy it. This hand-painted mug from Hungary was at one time sold by Starbucks.
